UWHA and UW Labor Relations met for the first bargaining session on July 16th. Introductions occurred and the current UWHA President, Dr. Kellie Satterfield and Vice-President, Dr. Zoe Sansted shared a presentation on the complicated and expensive process of becoming a physician, with the intent of familiarizing the University Labor relations bargaining panel with the resident experience. We then introduced changes to Articles 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 9, lead by Drs Clune and Adami. The changes to these articles are relatively minor in subject matter; however, clarified key processes and definitions for the contract bargaining agreement (CBA). UWHA members went through the changes line by line, with explanation, and Labor Relations asked clarifying questions.
UWHA will continue to bring forth articles during each bargaining session. UW Labor Relations informed us that they plan to bring forth their version of the contract proposal during the July 22nd or August 6th bargaining session. The next bargaining session will occur on July 18th, at 3:00pm on the UW Campus.
